Otolojik bir acil olarak kabul edilen ani işitme kaybının tedavisinde sistemik steroid kullanımı etkinliği kabul edilmiş tek tedavi seçeneğidir. Uzun süre yüksek doz steroid tedavisinin neden olabileceği ciddi komplikasyonlar nedeniyle steroidlerin topikal yolla kullanımı mantıklı olabilir. İntratimpanik steroid perfüzyonuyla sistemik yan etkiler minİmuma indirgenerek iç kulakta yüksek steroid konsantrasyonları elde edilebilmektedir. Ani işitme kayıplarında intratimpanik steroid kullanımına dair literatür gözden geçirilerek, bu tedavi yönteminin sağlayacağı avantajlar, uygulama sırasında görülebilecek komplikasyonlar, kullanım endikasyonlarının tartışılması amaçlandı.

The Use of İntratympanic Steroids in Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

In the treatment of sudden sensorineural hearing loss that is accepted as an otologic emergency, implementation of systemic steroid the effectiveness of which has been approved is only option for treatment. Since long time high dose steroid theraphy may cause severe complications, the use of topically steroid may be reasonable. By minimizing systemic adverse effects with perfusion of intratympanic steroid, the higher concentration of steroids can be obtained in the inner ear. While reviewing the literature about the use of intratympanic steroids in sudden sensorineural hearing loss, the advantages which are provided by this treatment method, complications that can be seen in the implementation process and indications of this theraphy were aimed to be debated.
